WHAT TO EXPECT
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you come to Area 10 on a Sunday morning you can expect a few things...
We want to create an environment where followers of Christ are challenged to grow in their faith, but in a way that anyone can understand. No matter where you're at in your faith journey, there is a place for you here. Everything we do centers around Jesus and the Bible.
Our services are held at The Byrd Theatre, an amazing art-deco space with inspiring decor and the occasional sticky spot on the floor and broken seat. (Which is why we love it here.) Even though the space is dressed up with chandeliers and murals, you don't need to get dressed up to come. There's also a free parking deck behind The Byrd on Colonial Street and street parking around Carytown on Sunday mornings.
We offer two identical services at 9:30 and 11 AM that typically last 70 minutes. The service begins with our band leading songs comprised of ancient and modern hymns in a refreshing way. Following the music, we hear a message from the pastor that is both biblical and practical. Finally, we celebrate communion together. During this time people are invited to come forward and take bread and juice that represents the body and blood of Christ. Everyone is welcome to come forward during this time or remain at their seats and listen to the music, reflect on the day's message or share prayer requests with volunteers waiting at the back of the theatre.
FAMILIES AT A10
FAMILIES AT A10
Parents are encouraged to bring their children, birth through 5th grade, to a special program designed just for them called A10 Kids. We meet at Cartwheels & Coffee, a few doors down from The Byrd. Each A10 Kids class is developmentally driven and includes: a teaching time, music, games and crafts to help kids explore and experience Jesus in an environment that is safe, fun and biblical. Our trained (and screened) team members reflect the love of God by providing great care for kids while their parents learn in The Byrd Theatre. A computerized check-in and a paging system supports being in a different location.
The A10 Student Ministry provides the opportunity for our middle and high school students to start and continue their faith journey. On Sunday mornings this features students worshipping with their family at the Byrd in one of our services.
As relationships are fundamental to faith development of students, we offer a program on Sunday nights from 5:00-6:30 PM at Cartwheels & Coffee where those relationships, both with adults and peers, can be fostered. Through large group teaching and small group discussions students can answer their questions about faith and apply those truths to their own lives. There’s also a fair amount of games, music, snacks and laughter!
CHRISTIAN STUDENT FELLOWSHIP
CHRISTIAN STUDENT FELLOWSHIP
What do you have for college students?
Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) at Virginia Commonwealth University is the collegiate ministry partnered with Area 10 Faith Community.
Their weekly gatherings:
WORSHIP Each week CSF gathers to foster a relationship with Christ and each other (the Church) through singing together, digging into the Word and praying together.
BIBLE STUDY Digging deep to find God’s message for transformation is the goal. CSF offers several opportunities throughout the week to be a part of a a Bible study.
SMALL GROUPS To foster community CSF offers small groups for all college students. These gatherings are more relational and designed for discussion.
Throughout the semester/year CSF also offers opportunities to get together for events, retreats, and service/missions trips. Above all, we're looking forward to getting to know and walking along side students as they journey with Him. For details check out the website (csfvcu.com).

STARTING POINT
STARTING POINT
Everyone new to Area 10 starts here. Starting Point is an 9-session small group conversation about faith. Whether you're new to faith, curious about God, or coming back to church after some time away, it's a place where your opinions and beliefs are valued and no question is off limits. This includes video teaching, personal reflection questions and group discussion. We will launch new groups monthly (except December).
Everyone. Really. Regardless of where you are on the spectrum, there is something for you. Starting Point may answer questions for some, and may help others find new ways to explain their faith to others.
Ever get together with friends over coffee or dinner? Think of it like that. Each week groups of 6-12 people will meet and talk about a different topic. The topic will be introduced in a video that you can watch at home or with the group, and then a group leader will ask a few questions to get the conversation going.
A new group will launch at the beginning of each month (except December). We most often will offer a group on Sunday afternoons and an evening during the week.
If childcare is needed, we will do our best to provide care at our group, or help cover the costs for your own sitter.
Everyone will receive a link to a website with videos and other resources as well as a member’s book. Books are a suggested donation of $10.
