Plug in at Area 10!

Service is a great way to get connected, grow in your faith, and is invaluable to the church. Below is an outline of a few ways you can serve both inside and outside the church.

Greeters: Greeters are often the first face a new visitor will see when they arrive at the Byrd Theatre. You never know what kind of a week someone has had, and being welcomed to a safe place by a friendly face can make all the difference. We ask all of our greeters to serve at least once a month, but you can greet as often as you like. First service greeters arrive at 9:30 am to prep Connect Card packets and stay a little after the service to help break down the Connect card packets.

Coffee Team: The first service Coffee Team arrives at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings to brew coffee, set up coffee supplies at the Byrd, and ready the coffee area before the 10 am service. Once the first song is complete, they set the coffee out of the way. Members of the coffee team typically serve once a month.

Next Steps Table: The Next Steps Table team ensures that first-time, new, and regular church attendees feel welcomed and connected at Area 10. Each week, the Next Steps Table team arrives at 9:00 to set up the Next Steps Table area, answers any questions, and gives the Try 5 gifts to new guests, and then helps break down the Welcome Table area. Team members have the option to work both services once every five weeks, or a single service every three weeks.

Security/Floaters: As a floater, you have the opportunity to be involved with all of the various hospitality and greeting teams and provide a safe, secure environment for our worship services. The Security team’s goal is to provide support to those teams in the event there is someone needing extra attention. In addition to being general support to all Sunday morning teams, this position watches over the lobby and keeps an eye out inside service for any potential disruptions.

Communion: The Communion team provides an invaluable service that allows us to celebrate the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us. They arrive by 9:15 am to set up the communion tables with juice, bread, and gluten-free crackers. We ask the Communion team to serve two Sundays of your choice every other month, which means six weeks off in between.

Set-Up: The Set-Up Team arrives at 9:00 am to prepare the Byrd Theatre for our morning worship services. They set up banners, sidewalk signage, and tables for other Sunday morning teams. Our church service literally wouldn’t happen without you! The time you spend setting up enables a space to exist for lives to change. We ask all of our set-up teams to serve at least once a month.

Tear Down: The Tear Down team stays after the service to help reset the Byrd Theatre after our Sunday morning worship service. You are serving the entire Richmond community by being good stewards of the space. The time you spend tearing down helps us be good stewards of our favorite Richmond landmark: the historic Byrd Theatre. We ask our tear-down teams to serve at least once per month.

Finances: The Finance Team collects offering boxes, safely transports them to the church office, and provides a final report of offering totals for the week. Our team is approximately staffed by four two-person teams, floaters, and a 5th Sunday team for a total of 11 total members.

Prayer: This team prays during the service for Area 10 and its leaders, and comes forward at the end of the message to be available to pray with anyone as they are exiting the theatre. The Prayer Team serves once a month and meets on a quarterly basis for workshops, fellowship, and prayer.

**A10 Kids: Meet people, teach children, and grow in your faith. Most A10 Kids positions serve on a month-on, month-off rotating system. We have positions from Set-Up and Tear-Down, to AV Tech's, to Welcome Team, to a variety of Classroom Teachers. If you love working with kids, this is a great fit for you!

A10 Students: Help middle and high schoolers navigate being a teenager in an ever-changing world and show them how to hold on to their faith in the midst of it. We are always on the lookout for dedicated youth leaders to build relationships with our teens, and there are a wide variety of ways to serve and support this ministry, from behind-the-scenes to engaging students personally on a weekly basis.

Worship Band: These musicians practice the upcoming worship set on Thursday nights during band rehearsal, and then lead our congregation in a time of worship during our Sunday morning services. We are typically looking for drummers, acoustic guitarists, electric guitarists, keyboardists, and/or vocalists, but alternative instruments are also welcome! Worship band members usually serve on a monthly rotation.

Tech Team: The tech crew runs lighting, sound, and video, while the Stage Manager helps it all flow together on Sunday mornings. Whether you are getting in early to turn on the lights at the Byrd, sitting behind the soundboard, or running lights or ProPresenter during the service, we rely on the creatives of Area 10 to bring their passion to the Sunday morning gathering.

Creative Arts Team: Our Stage Design Team designs and builds stage props, shoots and edits the videos we create in-house, and helps create content for our social media platforms. If you have a creative bone in your body, this is a great place for you to get involved.

Meal Team: This team loves cooking and bringing people food in times of need. This is also for those who are interested in hosting an Around the Table community dinner at their home quarterly.
