This Month’s Attribute of God: God is the Creator

The catechism asks: “What is God?” The answer is: “The creator of everyone and everything.” I remember building sandcastles on the beaches as a child. I was very protective and would do everything I could to keep them from being destroyed by other kids or even by the waves. Because the sandcastles were made by me, they belonged to me in a special way.

Because God created everything, it all belongs to Him. He provides and protects because it’s all His. Someone once said, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, ‘Mine!’” Because that is true, we can trust Him in everything. In Psalm 24:1, David recognized this: well and said this in Psalms 24:1: The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.

Monthly Memory Verse: By Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth…all things were created through Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16)

Big Question (For PreK/Toddler): Who made everything and rules over everything? God!
