WOMEN’S MINISTRY AT AREA 10
Why HAVE A WOMEN’S MINISTRY?
The Women’s Ministry at Area 10 exists to help the women of our faith community connect to God, find their people, and change the world - the exact same mission and purpose of Area 10 Faith Community as a whole. However, there are times and seasons when growth happens most effectively in a safe space, which for many is in same-sex environments.
We believe that each woman is designed uniquely by our creator, but there are many common challenges and obstacles that women face in a broken world that we can support and encourage one another through. For this reason, we have women-specific events designed to help women grow their faith as we grow closer to one another.

PLANNING A WOMEN’S EVENT:
Have a great idea for a women’s event? We are empowering you to plan an incredible event for the ladies of our community - and we’ll help you iron out the details and help with the advertising!
PRO-PLANNING TIPS:
Keep it simple! The most successful Connection Events are ones that require very little organization or planning. Think of something you would do anyway on your own and plan for 4-12 individuals to join you. It might be a movie night on the couch at your house, dinner out at a local restaurant, or meeting up at a park to go on a walk.
Stack the deck in your favor. Before you plan a date for your event, reach out to 2-3 friends to see when they are available and if they want to come. That way, even if no one else is available the day of your event, you at least know you have 2-3 people who are ready and willing to enjoy all your hard work and planning!
Broaden the appeal. While there might be one or two other ladies that also enjoy underwater basket weaving, try to make your event something that might appeal to a wide array of ladies. Instead, maybe host a simple “craft night” where anyone can bring a current project they are working on.
FREEDOM!! The less your event costs to participate, the wider variety of ladies will be able to attend. Remove any barriers for entry that you can think of: If its a group specifically for moms, try to figure out an option for childcare or if your event is out of town and might be harder for those without personal transportation to access, think about organizing a ride share.
If you have any questions or want some help thinking through the details of your event, reach out to rachel@area10church.com and she would be happy to help walk you through the event planning process!
SUBMIT YOUR EVENT:
We’re so grateful for your willingness to lead an event! We’re happy to support you by sharing event details and promoting it on social media. However, please note that the planning, implementation, and communication of the event from start to finish will be your responsibility. This means organizing all logistics, handling communication with attendees, and ensuring the event runs smoothly.
While we love to encourage and empower leaders, the church will not be managing or overseeing the event itself, nor will we be responsible for its success or any challenges that arise. If you’re comfortable with this, we’re excited to see what you create and are happy to help get the word out!
TYPES OF WOMEN’S EVENTS & GROUPS
We have three types of events and groups that we try to find a balance of throughout the year:
CONNECTION Events** & Groups - The primary purpose of connection events is building relationships: Both strengthening the ties between believers and inviting new people into community at Area 10. These events may or may not have any specifically directed spiritual component, but are designed to grow us closer together with the understanding that we have our faith in common and those relationships are worth investing in.
** - Any woman at Area 10 is empowered to coordinate and lead a Connection Event at any time, which will be added to our calendar with the “Connection Event” tag.GROWTH Events & Groups - These events, typically planned by the Women’s Ministry Team, will include intentional faith-based conversations along with intentional relationship-building. Growth groups or events are a good balance of both spiritual and relational content. This might include a prayer walk around a local park, a service project to create bouquets for homebound seniors, or our annual three-day “getaway” retreat.
FORMATION Events & Groups - Formation groups or events are designed specifically with deepening your spiritual formation as the primary and often sole purpose. There may be relationships that naturally spring out of these kinds of events/groups, but that will intentionally be secondary to the spiritual component. Formation Groups that read through the entire Bible together in a year, or our annual Women’s Retreat fall into this category.
